3D Laser Scanning & Point Clouds
Laser scanning is a fast, accurate & comprehensive data capture method which can be applied to a variety of survey tasks.

We use industry-leading terrestrial & hand-held laser scanning equipment (including Leica, Faro & GeoSLAM) along with Leica Cyclone/Cyclone 360/Autodesk ReCap processing software to produce the resulting dataset, known as a 'point cloud'.

We 'control' laser scanning surveys with Total Station observations to validate the accuracy of the raw data captured. This approach also allows for full integration with other datasets (e.g topographic surveys) & allows data to be presented on one common grid coordinate system, such as Ordnance Survey (OS) National Grid.
We also utilise other modern 3D data capture methods (such as Aerial UAV Technology & Mobile Mapping Systems) when appropriate.
Some benefits of adopting modern 3D data capture methods include:

-
Reduced project timescales due to rapid data collection speeds
-
Ideal for surveying dangerous & difficult to access areas due to remote/long range capabilities of equipment
-
Point cloud data exported in a variety of formats (including E57, PTS, LAS & RCP) enabling compatibility with 100's of software packages
-
A variety of deliverables can be produced from point cloud data including 2D/3D AutoCAD outputs, BIM compatible 3D Revit Models & Topographic survey information.
